Montessori Children's House, Inc. of Sheboygan is committed to the principles espoused by Dr. Maria Montessori M.D. and to introducing children to the joy of learning at an early age.
We believe those principles provide a framework in which intellectual and social discipline goes hand-in hand.
We provide a loving and nurturing environment in which your child is able to grow and develop by his/her fullest potential at their own pace in a non-competitive atmosphere.
Through this environment the child develops independence, self-discipline, respect for others and materials, completing a work cycle and putting object back into their original location when completed, creates self-esteem and deep love for learning while developing and using their five senses.
Dr. Maria Montessori was the first woman medical doctor in Italy. She received her degree at the age of 25. She loved working with the disabled especially the mentally ill and homeless in the slums of Italy. Dr. Montessori became known as "THE MIRACLE WORKER". She conquered yet another challenge. Dr. Maria Montessori realized that if the disabled children could learn so well and so quickly, why shouldn't a healthy non-restricted child excel?
Dr. Maria Montessori believed a child's ability to learn does not begin in Kindergarten. She believed from birth a child that is given a stimulating environment absorbs from the world around them.
The Montessori method of teaching is an environment set up for the child to meet his/her needs by growing at their own pace. The child is free to grow by developing a love for work, a sense of order, self-confidence, inner discipline and concentration.
Dr. Maria Montessori was so respected and admired for her wisdom and technique that she was honored by the Italian government with her picture proudly displayed in the Italian 1000 Lira.
Our staff is totally committed to educating the families on how to incorporate the Montessori approach into their family life. Consistency with policies and procedures is very important. Our staff shows professionalism in enhancing the Montessori philosophy including morning and afternoon outdoors free-play and always nutritious snacks.
